Summer Author Chat: The Railroad Photography of Lucius Beebe and Charles Clegg

Tuesday, July 217:00—8:15 PMONLINEBeebe Library345 Main Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880

Author Tony Reevy presents his new book on the railroad photography of Wakefield native Lucius Beebe (grandson of the man after which this building is named) and Charles Clegg. Bon vivant, railroad historian, pioneering food critic, chronicler of New York's cafe society, and noted newapaperman, Lucius Beebe (1902-66) was an American original. In 1938, with the publication of High Iron: A Book of Trains,  he transformed the world of railroad-subject photography forever by inventing the railroad picture book genre. He, alongside his creative and life-partner, Clegg, produced an outstanding and diverse portfolio of mid-twentieth century railroad-subject photographs.

Reevy's book brings the incredible story of these two artists and their best photographic work together.
