First Thursday Book Club

Thursday, May 27:00—8:30 PMLecture HallBeebe Library345 Main Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880

Third and Fourth Graders, along with a favorite adult, are invited to join Beebe Library's First Thursday Book Club.

Share the love of reading in your family! We will be reading some of the very best middle grade books and explore beyond the plot to seek the themes, the authors' secret purpose, and what makes each book special. Along with the discussion, there will be a craft or activity and a snack to take home that goes along with each month's book.

This month’s book:  Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy

Do you think you know about fairy tales? You know that Prince Charming saved Sleeping Beauty from the Castle, and Prince Charming saved Rapunzel from the wicked witch holding her captive in a tower, and Prince Charming saved Snow White from her evil step-mother, and Prince Charming saved Cinderella from her mean step-sisters and step-mother. That’s a lot of work for one hero! Well, here’s rub - each Prince Charming was a different prince with his own name -Princes Liam, Duncan, Frederic and Gustav. Why are their stories all about the princess!! They did the work and deserve to know by their own name! A very funny take on fairy tales with a cheeky narrator who has a lot to say about the goings-on.
