How to Go From Inactive to ACTIVE - A Beginners Guide to Safe Exercise for Older Adults

Monday, April 127:00—8:30 PMONLINEBeebe Library345 Main Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880

Participating in regular physical activity can reduce your chance of all-cause mortality by 33% and can significantly reduce your risk of diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer, yet only 23% of American adults perform enough regular exercise to be considered 'Active.' Join Katie Wadland, Doctor of Physical Therapy, for this virtual presentation that will give you the tools to go from Inactive to ACTIVE. During this talk, she will review the many benefits of regular physical activity, review the CDC recommendations for physical activity and address the fears and concerns that frequently prevent people from exercising regularly. You will leave with the information you need to get ACTIVE, safely and effectively, at any age.

This is a virtual event. You will be sent a Zoom link approximately two hours before the start time.

Katie Wadland is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with over thirteen years of experience in inpatient, outpatient and home care rehabilitation settings. She has expertise working with older adults, people with neurological disorders and other complex medical issues. She is the Owner of Healthy Aging Essentials Physical Therapy (HAE/PT), and provides in-home physical therapy and wellness services for people living in Wakefield and surrounding towns.
