This is an Virtual Program.
Join us online for Bill Gette talk about his adventure of a lifetime when he led an 18-day Mass Audubon trip to the Southern Ocean. His journey included stops on the Falkland (Malvina) Islands, South Georgia Island, Elephant Island, and the Antarctic Peninsula. Bill took photos of the abundant wildlife (e.g., Gentoo and Adelie penguins, Southern Giant-Petrels, Leopard Seals) and many places made famous by Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic expedition, their shipwreck, incredible journey through treacherous, ice-filled waters, and eventual rescue on Elephant Island.
Bill will share photographs of these remote, forbidding, yet beautiful islands and many of the sites important during the Shackleton expedition. He will also show his photographs of the birds and mammals that live and breed there.
