Light Bright Art
Thursday, December 96:30—8:30 PMONLINEBeebe Library345 Main Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880
For Ages 11-Adult. As the days grow colder and nights longer, let’s shed a little more light on our lives in the months ahead by making eco-friendly art together. In this hands-on workshop, we will first explore the popular Danish and Norwegian concept of hygge: the experience of warmth and cozy contentment in everyday life. Taking inspiration from this idea, as well as artists who utilize light as their medium, we’ll repurpose ordinary materials into playful illuminated sculptures for the spaces we inhabit. This process will engage our inherent creativity and provide a fun opportunity to play with color, shapes, light, and shadow. The resulting artworks will infuse our homes with a bit of hyggelig atmosphere and along with it bring a greater sense of well-being to each participant.
Please note that this is a virtual program to be held on Zoom. Bags with materials to be used in the craft can be picked up at the library's Circulation Desk from 1:00 pm on 12/6 to 5:00 pm on the night of the program. A Zoom link will be emailed to all registered participants in the late afternoon of 12/9.
*This program is supported by a grant from the Wakefield Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council.
