The Reciprocity Project: Seven Short Films (IN PERSON)

Saturday, January 252:30—4:00 PMLecture HallBeebe Library345 Main Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880

Join us for a screening of Season 1 of the Reciprocity Project (see trailer), seven beautiful short films by Indigenous filmmakers, each one as unique as the culture it comes from. Although there is not a word for reciprocity in many Indigenous languages, the concept is embedded in every aspect of Indigenous cultures, connecting all beings, seen and unseen. These films were created to shed light on what reciprocity and connection to the land mean to each of the communities from which the films come.

We'll start with refreshments and a very brief reading about the concept of Reciprocity taken from the writings of Robin Wall Kimmerer, a Potawatomi botanist and the author of  Braiding Sweetgrass, The Serviceberry, and others. Take-home materials from the filmmakers are available for those who are interested.
