Skype a Scientist: Soil is a vital part of our ecosystem with Alyssa Reinhard (Virtual)

Thursday, November 146:30—8:30 PMONLINEBeebe Library345 Main Street, Wakefield, MA, 01880

This is a Virtual Program

Skype a scientist is back and ready to dig into Soil science.

Soil is a living thing, full of microscopic lifeforms that breathe oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide just like we do. In fact, the amount of carbon dioxide that soil produces is so huge that it is second only to human activities. As climate change is an increasing concern in our world, we need to be able to measure and model how much CO2 soil puts into the atmosphere. That's where  Alyssa Reinhardt's research comes in.

Come and listen to Alyssa Reinhardt talk about working in termite mounds in South Africa, in abandoned coal mines in Appalachia, and bring your geological questions!
