Admired by emperors, praised by scholars, and frequently used as an ornament to enhance physical beauty, jade is believed to have life-prolonging qualities and considered by some to be more precious than gold. Over thousands of years, artists have drawn inspiration from nature and creatively worked jade into various sizes, forms, and shapes; meanwhile, many layers of meaning have been associated with the essence and quality of jade objects.
